Our Services
Personalized Eye Care You Can Trust
From thorough eye exams and personalized vision correction to advanced specialty care, our services are designed to protect your sight today and support long-term eye health for years to come.
Comprehensive Eye Exams
Focused on routine care, early detection, and long-term eye health-
Our comprehensive eye exams are designed to support healthy vision at every stage of life — from children and teens to adults and seniors. Whether your child needs their first eye exam, you’re managing digital eye strain, or you’re monitoring age-related changes, our optometrist provides personalized, proactive care for your entire family.
Each exam includes a detailed vision test and a thorough evaluation of your overall eye health. We screen for common eye conditions such as myopia (nearsightedness), astigmatism, lazy eye, and focusing issues in children, as well as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and diabetic eye disease in adults and seniors. We also assess how your eyes work together, checking eye coordination, focusing ability, and visual function.
By taking the time to understand your lifestyle, medical history, and daily visual demands, we ensure your care is never one-size-fits-all. Every recommendation — from glasses and contact lenses to preventive treatment and ongoing management — is tailored to protect your long-term eye health and help you see clearly at every age.
Myopia Management
Custom lenses and contacts
designed around how you live & see-
Myopia, or nearsightedness, is becoming increasingly common in children and can progress quickly if left unmanaged. At The Optical Collective, we offer comprehensive myopia control programs designed to slow progression and protect long-term eye health.
Our approach is personalized for each child and may include:
Stellest® myopia control glasses designed to slow nearsightedness progression
MiSight® contact lenses specifically for myopia management
Low-dose atropine eye drops to safely reduce myopia progression
Axial length measurements to track eye growth and monitor treatment effectiveness
Targeted eye health monitoring and lifestyle guidance
Measuring axial length — the length of the eye from front to back — is a critical part of myopia management. Changes in axial length provide a more precise indicator of myopia progression than prescription alone, helping us adjust treatments proactively and protect your child’s long-term vision.
Early intervention can reduce the risk of high myopia and related complications later in life. Our team works closely with families to educate, monitor, and provide safe, effective strategies to help children maintain clear vision and healthy eyes for years to come.

Contact lenses are not one-size-fits-all. At The Optical Collective, we take a precise, individualized approach to ensure lenses fit comfortably, provide clear vision, and support long-term eye health — for children, teens, and adults alike.
We offer contact lens fittings for:
Daily, bi-weekly, and monthly lenses
Astigmatism correction
Multifocal and presbyopia lenses
Specialty and medically necessary lenses
For younger patients, we provide gentle, patient-focused guidance to help children and teens adapt to contact lenses safely and confidently. Our team also educates all patients on proper wear, care, and replacement schedules to protect vision and maintain eye health at every age.
An Accommodating Pre-Visit Approach
We understand that visiting the eye doctor can feel overwhelming for some children and patients with sensory sensitivities, anxiety, or special needs. That’s why we’re happy to offer a pre-visit introduction to our office and equipment.
We welcome families to schedule time for their child to meet our team, explore the space, and become familiar with the exam process at their own pace. By creating a calm, pressure-free experience ahead of their appointment, we help build comfort and confidence before their full exam.
Our goal is simple: to make every patient feel safe, supported, and set up for success.

A comprehensive eye exam includes an evaluation of your overall eye health, detailed vision testing, and a personalized glasses prescription. In some cases, medical insurance may cover routine eye exams and additional services. For this reason, we ask that you provide both your vision and medical insurance information prior to your appointment so we can determine the most appropriate way to bill your visit and maximize your benefits.
If your doctor identifies a medical concern requiring additional testing or treatment beyond routine vision care — such as dry eye disease, glaucoma evaluation, or further retinal assessment — these services are considered medical care and may be billed through your medical insurance when applicable.
If you have any questions about your coverage, our team is happy to help you understand your benefits before your visit.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
For your eye exam in Austin, bring your current glasses or contact lenses, a list of medications, and any relevant medical or vision history. This helps our optometrist provide the most accurate, personalized care for your vision and eye health.
-
Routine eye exams are recommended every 1–2 years for most adults. Children may need exams more frequently, especially if they wear glasses or are in myopia management programs. Seniors or patients with chronic eye conditions may also need more frequent monitoring.
-
Optomap® retinal imaging captures an ultra-widefield image of your retina in seconds, allowing us to detect eye diseases without the need for dilation drops for most patients. It’s fast, comfortable, and creates a permanent digital record to monitor your eye health over time.
-
A contact lens exam measures your eyes for lens fit, prescription, and corneal health. Our office offers fittings for daily, bi-weekly, and monthly lenses, including astigmatism and multifocal options. You can receive a contact lens prescription alone, but we often recommend a complete eye exam to ensure overall eye health.
-
Yes! Our pediatric patients can be evaluated for contact lens suitability, and we provide guidance and training for safe, comfortable lens use. Many children also benefit from myopia management programs using specialized lenses or low-dose atropine drops to slow nearsightedness progression.
-
Glasses and contact lens prescriptions have expiration dates because vision can change over time, and eye health needs regular monitoring. Updating your prescription ensures clear, comfortable vision and reduces the risk of eye strain or undetected eye disease.
-
For children, dilated exams and Optomap® imaging are essential for both eye health and accurate vision correction. Kids often over-focus during exams, which can hide their true prescription. Optomap® imaging not only provides a non-invasive alternative for many children but also creates a permanent digital record of the retina. This documentation helps us track changes over time, monitor eye health, and ensure your child’s prescription remains accurate as they grow. Dilation allows our optometrist to get an accurate measurement for glasses or contact lenses, ensuring your child’s prescription truly matches their vision needs. It also helps detect early signs of eye disease, supporting long-term eye health.
-
Our optical boutique features carefully curated frames from high-quality brands that balance style, comfort, and durability. Our opticians provide personalized frame styling, precise lens measurements, and guidance on lens materials and coatings to ensure the perfect fit for your vision and lifestyle.
